What is Selvita looking for?We are currently searching for attractive in-licensing opportunities from different areas of life science industry. Among projects that are interesting for us, new therapeutic compounds and biologicals are the most important ones . However, we are also reviewing projects connected to new vaccines, biomarkers, new animal models or diagnostic tests and molecular methods. A major requirement for all submitted in-licensing opportunities is a world?s scale of innovation level of the project.We are especially interested in in-licensing opportunities of new therapeutic compounds that evolved as a result of research conducted in Polish research institutions. Compounds we will purchase from scientists and universities will be lead through a full preclinical phase stage performed by our company, and after reaching the phase I level, out-licensed to a partner from the biotech industry. Apart from pharmaceutical industry, our main and crucial partners in the process of new drug development are of course scientists, academia and associated centers of technology transfer. Compounds we are looking for, have to exert a confirmed in vitro activity. Additional in vivo data from experiments conducted in animal models will increase substantially in-licensing chance. Project reviewAfter an initial contact with the scientist or technology transfer center, we are signing a confidentiality agreement which guarantees the intellectual property rights of the partners and prevents disclosure of the project information. This allows our company to proceed with the first step of our 3-step review process conducted by Selvita experts. In the first step, the most critical aspects like patent clearance, innovation level and therapeutic area are given the most attention. In the next step, a detailed report is prepared by our company in which both scientific and commercial aspects are analyzed with a special emphasis on the comparison with similar projects and the development possibilities. Basing on this report, our Board together with the Scientific Council takes the decision about involvement in this particular project. It can either lead to a direct purchase or further development in cooperation with our company.More information |
