Selvita Completes $ 5.5 Million Private Placement

Kraków, 5th May 2011 - The largest Polish drug discovery company Selvita announced today it has entered into definitive agreements with investors in Poland to sell in a private placement 2,7 million shares of its stock at a price of PLN 5.5 per share, resulting in gross proceeds to the company of PLN 14,85 million ($ 5.5 million). 

The capitalization of the company after the issue will be around $ 21 million. Selvita expects its stock to be listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange NewConnect market in July 2011, subject to regulatory approvals. 

Proceeds from the financing will be used primarily for the ongoing pre-clinical development of Selvita’s drug candidates including the potentially first in class compounds: SEL24 (Pim kinase inhibitor in oncology), SEL120 (anti-mitotic agent with a novel mechanism of action) and SEL113 (oncology and auto-immune disorders). The company will also expand its lab space for outsourcing of drug discovery projects which is the second pillar of Selvita’s business model.

The majority of the company shares will continue to be controlled by its management. The largest new shareholder will be Dr. Tadeusz Wesolowski, the founder of Prosper, one of the largest pharmaceutical distributors in Poland (currently part of Neuca group). Dr Wesolowski will also join Selvita’s supervisory board as its Vice President.

The Warsaw-based CC Group served as lead placement agent for the offering with Alior Bank acting as co-placement agent.

Selvita appoints Piotr Prelich as a Vice President of Sales and Marketing

- Polish biotechnology company Selvita, announced today the appointment of Mr. Piotr Prelich to the position of Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Mr. Prelich will be responsible for the further establishment of Selvita’s brand in the pharmaceutical preclinical outsourcing market, both in Poland and abroad, as well as for the sales of services offered by Selvita and its subsidiary BioCentrum.

Mr. Piotr Prelich worked from 2007 to 2010 at Invitrogen (Life Technologies group) in the United Kingdom, as Director of Sales and Marketing of the HLA product line (transplantation and diagnostics), for the EMEA region. His previous professional experience includes sales positions in pharmaceutical companies such as Sanofi-Winthrop, Chinoin, Novo Nordisk, Roche Diagnostics and Abbott in Poland and Austria. In 1999-2007 he served as the CEO of Hark Company, specializing in laboratory equipment. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, from the Medical University of Lodz.

Selvita signs a drug discovery services contract with Rottapharm Madaus

Rottapharm Madaus , the multinational  pharmaceutical company, has signed a drug discovery research contract with Selvita  -  Poland based product and solution provider for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry.

- Rottapharm Madaus and Selvita announced today signature of a services contract for delivery of drug discovery services. The aim of this project is to deliver to Rottapharm Madaus a set of designed and synthesized compounds, including their optimized synthesis route, which will have a therapeutic potential in an indicated area.
